What this site records, what it does not, and how long anything is kept.
Just reading the site
Browsing requires no account and sets no cookie. There is no advertising network, no third-party analytics script, no social tracking pixel, and no visitor profile.
As with any website, the server that delivers these pages keeps ordinary operational logs. Those exist to keep the site running and to investigate abuse, and they are not used to build a picture of anybody.
Submitting a record or a correction
The submission forms ask for your name and email address along with the details you are proposing. Both are used for one thing: so a moderator can follow up about your submission if something is unclear.
- Your address is used to send one message — a link confirming the address is yours. There is no mailing list, and approving or rejecting a submission emails you nothing.
- The confirmation link works once and expires after 24 hours. Only a hash of it is stored, so the database never holds a working link.
- Your details are never published, and never appear on a public page.
- Your details are never sold, shared, or passed to anyone outside the people who moderate this site.
How long contact details are kept
The proposal is kept; the person who sent it is not kept indefinitely.

Erased means erased — the name and address are set to empty, not replaced with a placeholder that still identifies the submission as yours.
Abuse protection
To stop the forms being used to flood the site or to send unwanted mail to someone else’s inbox, submissions are rate limited. The limiter needs to recognise repeat callers without knowing who they are, so it stores a one-way keyed hash rather than an address. No IP address is stored, and the hashes cannot be turned back into one.
There is no CAPTCHA, and nothing on these forms is sent to a third-party service.
Staff accounts
Accounts exist only for the small number of people who moderate the site, and they are created by hand — there is no public sign-up. Signing in sets a session cookie; that is the only cookie this site sets, and it is set only for people who sign in.
Asking about your data
If you have sent a submission and want to know what is held about you, or want it removed before the retention window elapses, write to craig@albertamakesgames.com and it will be handled by hand. If your submission was never confirmed by email, it will disappear on its own within 48 hours without you doing anything.
Records about studios and people in the industry
The directory describes companies, games, events, and programs, drawn from information that has been published about them. It is not a database of individuals. If a record about your studio is wrong or out of date, the correction form is the fastest way to fix it.
