Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic Announced From Former KOTOR and Mass Effect Director Casey Hudson

Why this matters to Alberta game development
Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic places an Edmonton-based studio behind one of the world’s most recognizable entertainment properties. Arcanaut Studios, founded by former BioWare general manager and Mass Effect director Casey Hudson, is developing the single-player action RPG in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games as a spiritual successor to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
The project has particularly strong ties to Edmonton’s game-development history. Hudson directed the original Knights of the Old Republic at BioWare, while Arcanaut includes other experienced developers whose careers include KOTOR and Mass Effect. Announcing Fate of the Old Republic at The Game Awards gives the newly established Alberta studio immediate international visibility and positions Edmonton once again as a development centre for a major Star Wars role-playing game. Arcanaut is also hiring as development expands, creating new opportunities for experienced game-development talent in Alberta.
