Reboot Develop and its journey to the Canadian Rockies in Banff, Alberta

Reboot Develop Red brought an established international game-development conference to Banff, giving Alberta a significant new industry-focused event. The inaugural Canadian conference was scheduled for October 30 to November 1, 2019 at the Fairmont Banff Springs, with speakers including Suda51, Rami Ismail, Jennifer Scheurle, Kate Edwards and Patrice Désilets. Its programming covered game design, development, business and other professional disciplines across six stages. Banff was selected after organizers initially considered Vancouver, with its location near Calgary and resort setting intended to bring developers together for sustained networking and professional exchange. This gave Alberta developers local access to international industry leaders while also bringing developers from elsewhere in Canada and abroad into the province. At a time when Canada had relatively few developer-focused conferences, Reboot Develop Red positioned Alberta as a meeting point for the wider Canadian industry and created opportunities for partnerships, knowledge sharing and international connections.
