Get ready gamers, next year’s Game Con Canada is going to be bigger and better: organizer

Why this matters to Alberta game development
The North American Games Industry Summit established Edmonton as a growing business-development hub for the game industry, connecting developers directly with publishers and investors alongside Game Con Canada. Its inaugural event sold out, attracted international publishers and resulted in publishing deals for seven Canadian developers. Plans for the following year called for NAGIS attendance to grow from fewer than 400 people to approximately 2,000, while Game Con’s indie developer booths would expand from 55 to 250.
The events also strengthened Edmonton’s connection to the international industry while maintaining a significant Alberta focus. Game Con Canada committed to Edmonton through 2031, supported by organizations including Edmonton Screen and Explore Edmonton. With BioWare’s history and a growing population of independent studios providing an existing development base, the expansion gives Alberta developers greater local access to publishers, professional networking, international delegations and potential commercial opportunities that would otherwise require travelling to major industry events elsewhere.
