Edmonton game developer BioWare moving to EPCOR Tower

Why this matters to Alberta game development
BioWare’s move into three floors of EPCOR Tower represented a significant expansion of the Edmonton-founded studio’s physical presence in the city. The relocation from south Edmonton to a modern downtown facility was intended to provide improved working space for employees while keeping one of Alberta’s largest and most internationally recognized game developers based in Edmonton.
At the time, BioWare had grown from a company founded in Edmonton in 1995 into the developer of globally successful franchises including Mass Effect and Dragon Age, as well as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire. Moving a major game studio into Edmonton’s downtown innovation corridor also gave the local industry a more visible presence within the city’s broader technology sector. The investment in substantial new office space reflected BioWare’s scale and continued commitment to Edmonton during a period when the studio remained a major source of game-development employment in Alberta.
