Edmonton conventions help fill gaps in Canadian gaming industry

Game Con Canada and the inaugural North American Games Industry Summit establish Edmonton as a meeting point for both the consumer and business sides of Canada’s game industry. Organized by Alberta-based Meibel Consulting, the events bring developers, publishers, investors, technology companies and industry leaders to the Edmonton Expo Centre, giving Alberta studios access to connections that would often require travelling to larger industry centres. NAGIS adds particular value for local developers through structured business meetings, pitching opportunities and networking with potential publishing, financing and technology partners. Its programming also draws on Alberta’s game development history, including a BioWare reunion featuring figures such as Greg Zeschuk and Casey Hudson.
